KFL Round 2 – Swanley Park

The second race of this season’s Kent Fitness League cross-country series took place in Swanley Park on Sunday Nov 9th, with another big contingent of club Triathletes making up over a quarter of the 7Oaks AC team.

 A 2-minute silence was observed at 11.00 a.m. before field of 495 the runners set off to tackle three laps of the park, made slow and muddy by the heavy overnight rain.

The Sevenoaks men’s team were missing a number of star names but finished in sixth position with Stephen Searby the 6th team scorer in 64th place overall, whilst the ladies ran brilliantly to come 3rd on the day and move into the lead in the overall series with Cath Linney (6th overall) and Katie Wills (14th) being top the 2 7Oaks scorers.

Next race is at Oxleas Woods in Eltham (renowned for its knee deep mud and energy sapping hills) at 11.00am on 23 November.  All Tri Club members can run by joining 7Oaks AC at a special rate of £12 and paying £2 on the day - It’s a very friendly and relaxed event, a great introduction to cross country running and perfect winter speed work training.
