7oaks triathlon 2018 results

It just about stayed dry for 337 competitors who took part in our 2018 7oaks triathon on Sunday 29th April - if a little chilly! DBmax and the first marshals were on site at 4am setting up in the dark, ready for the first swimmers to set off at 6:30. We and the leisure centre were inundated with enquiries the day before when seven fire engines were on site to deal with a fire in the electrical supply control cabinet. Fortunately the fault could be resolved and the race continued as planned, following the same route as previous years apart from a detour around the multi-storey car park building works! A few triathletes commented that the new route down to the park was far more pleasant (certainly less steep!).

It was a joyous competitive morning with some fast athletes participating and the last runners crossing the line at about mid-day, followed by the presentation of all of the trophies and a raffle for prizes generously donated by our sponsors. A successful event involves the cooperation of many parties and we would like to thank:

all of the competitors (especially those who smiled and waved at marshals),

Sevenoaks Leisure centre, Knole estate, Kent highways, Sevenoaks district council, the British Triathlon Federation, DBmax, Sussex photography, 'O' motos, Entertee barriers, Elite medical services, G4S security, Sam the masseur,

Our sponsors; Knocker & Foskett, Sevenoaks offices.com, Bat & Ball sports, Handelsbanken,

and the 7oaks tri club members who Marshalled, helped and organised. It is your dedication and enthusiasm which makes the event the success that it is - thank you!

Rob Parry of Crystal Palace triathletes who won the men's race finishing in a time of 1h21m49s, beating Scott Wiseman of Ashford tri club into 2nd and former multiple winner of this race Tom Wade of Optima racing team who came 3rd.

Hayley Breathwick of Maidstone harriers tri club who narrowly beat Louise Walker of Greenwich tritons by just 15 seconds to win the women's race in 1h44m25s. Another Greenwich triton, Nienke Hensbroek followed 2 minutes later to finish 3rd.

and all of the category winners, where Tunbridge wells tri club were prolific! It was also good to see many VO2 max, Ocean lake and White Oak triathletes competing.

Roll on 2019, when 7oaks triathlon will be held on Sunday 28th April.
