Congratulations to Gabi, Nessa and Becca for finishing 2nd female team in the second round of the South East club competition.
Medway Tri Club put in a storming performance scoring maximum points in the Female, Male and Mixed completions, following their strong performance at East Grinstead they are now clearly the Club to beat!
The early morning drizzle cleared to make way for a beautiful sunny day causing a few sun burns although it was fairly breezy with a strong headwind to battle into on the return leg of the bike section.
Cath Linney won the women's race by only 8 minutes this time, finishing 6th overall.
Chris Palmer won the senior age group finishing 4th overall but missing out on 3rd by 2 seconds.
Andy Evans won the MV40 age group finishing 7th overall.

Storming rides saw six 7Oaks riders in the top 10 with Chris Hansen taking joint 1st place. Steve Searby put in a scorching performance to finish 4th with the first 9 all going under 24 minutes. Susan Freeburn was fastest 7Oaks female again.
Conditions looked perfect, but actually it was a bit too windy for super times. Still it was a fast evening with a short 23 required to score above 1 point.
7OaksTri turned out in force with over half the riders. PBs for Andy Evans and Ben Bridges.
Big thanks to all riders for keeping the farmer's entrances clear and for remembering their rear lights. Also to Tony La, Dave Lobley, Simon Truitt and Sam Begg for marshalling.
Neil Harris was fastest rider. 2 seconds separated 2nd and 4th. Sam's 10 mile run warm up may have had something to do with that....
Report from Georgie Butler:
Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, wait – it’s just 7Oaks Tri dominating the awards ceremony at Marshman 70.3.
In completely contrasting conditions to last year, as thunder and lightning were replaced with blue skies and sun, eight 7Oaks Tri members took part in the habitual middle distance race near Rye last Sunday. The lake was a (dubious) eighteen degrees for the ‘M’ shaped swim, and that temperature followed onto the “one-hill-only” (I have a Strava graph that says otherwise) bike course and rural run route.
Every year we publish anonymous feedback from competitors. We take this feedback very seriously and try to continuously improve our event. We would like to thank all of our competitors particularly those who provided input.
From the series organiser:
The TESE Senior Series 2017 got off to a flying start at the East Grinstead Triathlon on Sunday 14 May. Congratulations to everyone who competed and thanks to East Grinstead Tri Club who, as always, put on a great event. The damp start didn't put off a fantastic turnout and we finished in glorious sunshine.
There were some outstanding performances with Medway being the standout club, coming first in the female and mixed team competitions and second in the male team event.
Female team : 1st - Medway; 2nd - Epsom; 3rd - 7oaks
Some great running in the park on Tuesday evening. Some PBs as always although many were tired from the weekend efforts whether 50 mile TT or sprint tri. Ben Bulley, Rob, James and Darius all had great runs. Ben's time is around his PB from Tonbridge Park Run, which is a much flatter course.
Thanks to Coaches Sam and Jane for organising. Next week fartlek - long intervals. Meet SLC at 6:45pm as usual.
This was a rematch for myself and Sally, having done this a couple of years ago. If you want a truly bonkers day out, this is the one for you, and takes not taking itself seriously very seriously indeed.
The dark clouds and rain weren't particularly inviting whilst loading the car early on Sunday morning! The upside was that at least the temperature had risen a bit and there was blue sky on the horizon when racking the bikes.
The queue for the swim snaked up, down and through the changing rooms so that everyone started late meaning that the sun had come out for the bike. However the roads were still wet and it was windy, making life a bit twitchy descending the fast corners out of the town. The traffic coming back into town was a bit of a lottery.
Sam and Chris scorched the fast Grain course on a very windy day. Surprising, it's never windy there !?
Together with Sam Glover they kept the 7OaksTri score high, despite us losing riders as we were organising the event. Latest totals are 7Oaks 108, GSA, 97, Sydenham 75.
Thanks Tony and the marshals for running the event.
Next event is on Thursday 18 May at Brands Hatch Q10/26 starting at 19:15. You'll need to be there 30 mins early to register, get warmed up and be ready. Don't forget, rear lights are compulsory. No light, no ride.
On a gusty day 7OaksTri members took 6 out of the top 10 in the inter club TT race on the fast Q10/19 Tonbridge by pass course. Sam Begg won overall posting 21:01 which is extremely impressive as the conditions meant most were at least 30s off their best.
There were some timing difficulties on the day. These are now final. Some inconsistencies in the timing have been resolved.
The strong showing means 7OaksTri has moved into a narrow lead in the Inter Club Competition:
7OaksTri 88, GSA 80, Sydenham 48.
Please note that the swim entry/exit point has changed at Chipstead. It is now 150 m further down the lake, past the sailing clubhouse.
We had a great turnout of 20 7oaks tri athletes including a lot of new members at Tonbridge on bank holiday Monday in cold and wet conditions. This did not dampen spirits though as team members were cheered on each lap of the run. The sun was threatening to break through as 7oaks tri collected a respectable haul of results:
Cath Linney won the women's standard race again by about 18 minutes!
Chris Palmer came 2nd overall in the standard race.
Andy Evans won the MV40 category and came 4th overall in the standard race.
Dave Lobley was 3rd MV50.
Some good riding on a damp evening with a good turn out from our club.
Congratulations to Chris and Andy, 1st and 3rd overall and Val and Claire sharing 2nd place lady.
Steve started 3 mins late. Without that handicap he would have finished 4th.
The strong showing from 7Oaks Tri moved us into 2nd place in the inter club competition: GS Avanti extended their lead slightly with 61 points, 7Oaks Tri have 47 and Sydenham now have 36.
Next race is Saturday 6 May 0715 on the fast Tonbridge A21 course.
