The Castle Triathlon are looking for a couple of marshals for their Festival of Endurance on Sunday 10th July at Hever Castle. They are looking for bike marshals from 10.00am to 5.00pm. You would meet at Hever at 10.00am and will be provided with lunch.
In return you get a free entry for either the Olympic / Sprint distance race or 50% off the Gauntlet (half iron distance) at the Hever triathlon in September. The free entry can be passed on to someone else if needed.
Some really strong running this evening. The first four all beat their handicaps.
Back to intervals next week with longer hill reps.
Catching up on a busy week with TTs. Here's last night's result and a summary of the inter club and club points competitions.
Sam Begg broke his streak of bad luck with a very good 23:12. However 7OaksTri's Annus Horribilis continued with Martin Brown and Neil Harris both puncturing before the start.
In the inter club competition, GS Avanti retain their lead established with their whitewash on Saturday, they have 286 points, 7OaksTri is in second with 255 ahead of Sydenham Wheelers who have 217.
The weather was very bad I'm told.
Only four GS Avanti pairs made the trip to Grain resulting in a whitewash.
That made the inter club competition more interesting.
Sixteen club members got up early on Sunday to head down past maidstone to compete in the picturesque and well organised Leeds castle standard (Olympic) triathlon. The first wave was for the women and teams, with Cath Linney clearly first out of the water and going on to comfortably win the female race by 12 minutes over 2nd place lady, Jane Wiley who also won the F50 category! Val Place was 4th lady home and 2nd F50!
As mentioned in the write-up, the mid-sussex triathlon was the second round of the BTF south east club competition.
With a good 7oaks turn-out, we are still winning the 'mob' competition.
Congratulations to Sally, Val & Gabi for being the winning female team, we are now winning the female competition.
Congratulations to Tom, Andy & Sally for being the winning mixed team, making it two wins in a row.
and congratulations to Tom, Andy & James for coming second to a fast Epsom male team. With two 2nd's in a row we are 2nd to Epsom in the standings.
Tom Roff gave a virtuoso performance at Burgess hill, finishing 18th in only his third sprint triathlon! Sally Mortleman was the 2nd lady home and Val Place won the F50 category.
Conditions were good again at the East Peckham course on Thursday night, helping a few of our girls and the rapidly improving Shaun Mullen to attain pb's. Sam Begg's run of bad luck continued for a third week in a row, picking up a puncture.
After 8 (of 22) Rounds in the Club Competition Neil Mac and Andy Evans are in equal 1st with ATB in 3rd. Val still leads the women chased by Susan and Ella.
Mike Clyne was commentating at Blenheim and managed to interview a couple of famous faces. Mel C from the Spice Girls and Alistair Brownlee.

Duathlon world championships took place in Aviles (Northern Spain) last weekend.
James Bulley had a really impressive come back race at Whiteoak last weekend. After a nasty accident on his bike earlier this year, he raced to 5th overall and 4th in AG over the sprint distance last weekend. At 1:12:13 he was only 1 and a half minutes off the podium.
It was unseasonably cold at the QS/30 Cudham time trial last week compounded by a bracing northerly wind! It was also dark through the country lanes making lights essential for visibility. Unfortunately Sam Begg extended his tour of the Knockholt countryside which meant his time wasn't recorded.
A very strong showing from both Sydenham and GS Avanti has narrowed the inter club points competition significantly: 7OaksTri 187, Sydenham Wheelers 175, GS Avanti 172.

Allan is looking for team mates (friends) for the Dragon Boat Race taking place on Chipstead Lake on August 29th (also known as Bank Holiday Monday).
Approximate running time is 9:30am ("training") followed by the heats. Winners of heats progress to the business end and compete to win. Allan may have suggested 7oaks Tri Club would stroll to victory.
When the races cease the drinking starts - if it hasn't already - at the Bricklayers Arms.
Very impressive turn out for last night’s handicap race under stormy skies. Some really, really strong running. That isn’t a fast course, it’s also about 100-200m over 5km. For several athletes to beat their 5km PB was a delightful surprise.
Congratulations to Becca for running a big PB to narrowly win overall from Gabi and Georgie. Allan had the fastest run of the night finishing in 19:50. Sean and George were close on his heels.
Race report from Val Place:
A popular Half-Iron distance race. Swim a letter "M" course in the shallow, clean water of Lake 1 with safety canoes, straight into transition. A mostly flat bike route via Ashford, Tenterden, Appledore, Rye, gorgeous! A flat run round Lydd & countryside to finish.
A group of us headed to Lydd go take part in the 2016 Marshman i half ironman distance weather was dry for most part but cool.
After six rounds of the Inter Club Time Trial Competition things are taking shape.
In the men's competition Neil Mac is in the lead with ATB only 4 points behind. Neil has raced one more event and, with only the 6 best rides scoring, things could change.
The same applies to Andy Evans and Sam Begg who are equal third on 28 points. Sam has accumulated that score from only 3 finishes.
In the women's competition Val has a solid lead with Ella scoring consistently in second. There is a lot of racing left - Glenda and Susan both score very highly when they race.
Fast night. No/low wind, quite warm and flat course brought everyone out. We had 47 riders, which may well be a record for one of these events.
Sydenham had a good night scoring 44 points, GS Avanti 27 and 7OaksTri 20. The new totals are now 7Oaks 181, Sydenham 147, GS Avanti 129. Club competition points tally to follow.
Unfortunately we had to turn some people away. Probably 5 or 6, including some 7OaksTri members.
