7oaks tri club has been registered to take part in the 2018 TESE Senior Series:
We are pleased to announce details for the Triathlon England South East (TESE) Region Club Senior Series for 2018, which follows the same format as the successful 2017 Senior Series.

"A bit of a damp one!"
The women's competition couldn't have been closer. Susan Freeburn's winning ride in the 4 up at Brands put her level with Val Place on 58. The tie breaker is the number of times the rider has scored points for 7OaksTri. Val has 4 more scoring rides this year so is the winner. With Susan second and Claire Edwards 3rd on 55.
Neil Harris won the mens competition scoring a perfect 60 from 7 rides. Sam Begg was second with 58. He also had perfect scores. Except for the occasions when Neil showed up! Chris Hansen was 3rd on 57 points.
Congratulations to 7oaks tri ladies for winning bronze in the South East club competition. Please could at least one of you attend the TESE AGM and presentation to receive the award at the Grasshopper in Westerham on Saturday 14th October?
From the organiser:
The Southwater Relay Triathlon served up a fitting finale to the 2017 Senior Series competition with over half of the teams representing clubs registered in the Senior Series.
Any mist had lifted and conditions were mild for the five 7oaks tri teams who made the annual pilgrimage to Southwater country park. With 120 teams of 3 entered, registration and racking was busy but 120 yellow swimming caps made it in to the small lake for an 8:05 start. Much to Steve's delight, they announced in the race briefing that the McDonald's traffic lights would be 'bagged' for the event. Our friendly BTF Technical Officials, Dick and Clare Donovan were overseeing the event.
Neil Harris, Chris Hansen and Martin Brown took the podium for the men.
Susan Freeburn, Val Place and Gillian Sanders took the podium for the women.
Neil had the fastest ride of the day with a 19:52.
Val had a significant PB - first time under 25:00 on a 10 mile.
With 5 out of the top 10 7OaksTri has extended its lead in the Inter Club Competition to 23. GS Avanti always bring a lot of teams to Brands, so it could still be rather tight.
7oaks tri smashed it with 5 in the top 10.
Neil Harris won overall with Martin Brown and Chris Hansen in 3rd and 4th.
Jane Wiley was first woman. We're checking but it must have been very close to the women's course record.
You may be aware that we haven't participated as fully as last year in the TESE club competition due to members doing other events, clashes of dates and due to the popularity, the events selling out before people have had time to enter. The series is being reviewed and should include some different venues for next year...
From the series organiser:
"I hope most who wanted to get a a place at Ocean Lake were successful, but I'm aware a number were unlucky.
As it turned out, we had four 7oaks tri men to represent the club for the 4th round of the South East club competition at Leybourne. The conditions were dry and warm but windy up on the exposed part of the cycle course across a new river Medway bridge (Peter's bridge). Olly, Ben and Rob returned from holidays the day before the event and Olly's carb loading with pork knuckles and German beer obviously worked as he set off with a fast swim! Even Ben's impressive 19 minute run wasn't quite enough to catch Olly before the line.
Temporary Traffic Lights on Course
Polhill 17/8 Results
This was an extra TT as a previous race had to be cancelled. Susan Freeburn was the fastest woman overall. Andrew Evans was 3rd, the fastest 7OaksTri rider a little ahead of Stephen Searby 6th, who thankfully avoided throwing himself at the scenery.
GS Avanti had a good turn out and will have narrowed 7OaksTri's lead in the inter club competition. It looks very likely that all will be decided in the Brands Hatch Team Time Trial on 16/9.
GS Avanti took 7 of the top 10 last night. Neil Harris and Martin Brown scoring well for 7OaksTri. Catherine Linney was second woman only 9 seconds back from 1st now.
Darius Sarshar had a bit of a 'mare going off course. Twice! Challenging Sally Mortleman's off course records...
Very windy and very difficult to tell which direction it was coming from as it seemed to constantly change - some very nervous descents on the steep bit coming back!
Great turn-out from 7oaks tri - well done to everyone!
Dry all day then rained just before the start. People sheltering under tress rather than warming up!
Astonishing time from Neil Harris as usual but on his new Canyon TT bike.
7OaksTri a bit thin for this one. There's just too much going on at this time of the season.
GSA took 5 of the top 10. Sydenham 3. Well done to the Sams taking 5th and 6th and Val for being fastest 7Oaks female.
Results now final.
Having been given the opportunity to commentate at the 7Oaks Tri in April 2013 this led to a number of opportunities at a range of races to become a race commentator / announcer (or #mikeonthemic for the social media types among you). I’ve loved the chance to be at events both large and small and usually based at the finish line where you witness the excitement and emotion that I have known myself over the years.
7OaksTri big guns out in force taking 5 of the top 10 places. Scorching ride from Neil who is in top form. Sally was first woman with a short 25.
Need to check, but I suspect there might be some PBs there.

From now on, please look there for your weekly swim sets. I won't be posting here as well.
Only 1 7OaksTri team. Well done to Simon and Sam.
Despite mysterious appearing and disappearing roadworks, threatened thunderstorms and errant gas vans, we managed to get the event off last night. Great to see such a good turn out particularly from our partner clubs.
Sam Bennett was the fastest 7Oaks Rider. Sally Mortleman (visible from the space station in her super safe bright kit) fastest 7Oaks lady. Big thanks to the marshals helping us run the event on the night: Darius, Stephen, Dave, Peter, Susan, Tony and Martin.

The Dartford bridge triathlon on Sunday 18th June was the venue for 7oaks tri club's standard distance race. It was a very competitive field from many clubs including Crystal palace and Greenwich tritons also staging club races. A few nearly missed their start times due to a congested registration but made it to the warm (but stinky) lake! The air was unusually still for the exposed closed road cycle course and there were plenty of opportunities to cheer fellow club members on during the 7 lap course.
Congratulations to Gabi, Nessa and Becca for finishing 2nd female team in the second round of the South East club competition.
Medway Tri Club put in a storming performance scoring maximum points in the Female, Male and Mixed completions, following their strong performance at East Grinstead they are now clearly the Club to beat!
